Overview of the results from FTTH/5G convergence studies completed in 2019 and 2020 to explain why such convergence would be a good strategy for both FTTH operators and 5G operators.

The objective of this section is to explore some of the technical issues that FTTH planners and designers need to take into account to ensure that the network they design can be leveraged to provide back-haul and front-haul services for a 5G network built in the same geographic area. The impact that the latest developments in passive and active technology can have on enabling convergence will be discussed.
