This workshop will address the subject of Open Access from a variety of angles. Our panel of experts will share their views and experiences via a mix of short readouts and discussion. Questions from the audience will be welcome.

    • A regulatory perspective will be given based on experience with open access models in the Polish broadband market.

    • An overview of Open Access in Germany and its implementation by Deutsche Glasfaser. Germany has some unique challenges with more than 250 operators active in fibre markets and on the other hand a handful of large national consumer ISPs.

    • The investor perspective on the development in European fibre. Explaining  the preference for Open Access Network approach and share investor experiences with promoters, funders, authorities and regulators in highly divergent European markets.

    • Comsof provide an overview of different network architectures/topologies that can support a particular open access business model. Highlighting the cost differences between these topologies and show how these costs are distributed over the different parties involved in such business models.

     

    Jan Vandenbroeck, Regional Product Manager at CommScope

    • CommScope, will first summarize the open access platform network architectures and methods used in Europe from a physical structure perspective. Secondly, an insight will be provided on how these physical structures impact the business objectives, and a view on the lessons learned from the past 10 years of volume deployment will be given.
