Workshop 3b5G convergence enabled - How ribbon and multifibre technology can unlock the key to lowering FTTx and 5G costs while increasing deployment speeds.
Organised by VIAVI, Corning and Fujikura
In this workshop we will examine the proliferation of fibre endpoints and densification in the access due to FTTx and 5G and why ribbon and multifibre solutions could be a key enabler for lowering the cost and increasing the speed of rollouts. We will compare the differences between traditional fibre cabling technologies and ribbon technology. We will assess why duct, cable and connectivity space availability becomes a critical factor for technology choices for network operators. We will discuss footprint in splices enclosures, ducting and connectivity rooms and review the benefits ribbon and multifibre connectivity bring. Exploring the deployment phase we will evaluate how these solutions could help reduce installer skill level for splicing, jointing and installing connectors like MPO or MTP . We will discuss typical challenges and industry best practices for test process automation during the qualification and acceptances of these cabling and connectivity solutions.
