Colin Lees

CTIO | Openreach |

Colin was appointed Chief Technology & Information Officer for Openreach in June 2018.  As CTIO he is working to define and implement the future technology strategy for Openreach products within the UK.  A key part of that is building the IT & Network enablers for the UK's largest FTTP build.

Colin has 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry and has held a variety of senior roles in both the IT and Network domains.  Prior to Openreach, he was the CTIO for BT Business & Public Sector driving a technology transformation which enabled the launch of a refreshed portfolio, new IP Voice products and new technology platforms to support the 3000+ employees working on sales desks, service desks & field teams.

Colin joined BT in 2001 in the software engineering division of BT based in Belfast.  He developed experience across the engineering lifecycle applying agile development techniques and leading large software development teams.  As the evolution of voice moved from network to software-based solutions Colin applied the same engineering skills and disciplines to the design and launch of new BT voice services.  As an engineer at heart, Colin enjoys nothing more than seeing individuals using and enjoying the solutions he has built – something that he has a lot of opportunities to do in his current role as CTIO.
